At The Gate Inn we aim to offer high quality food and drinks in a relaxed and peaceful canalside setting in the village of Clarborough, near Retford.
Outside, a large south facing terrace overlooks the Chesterfield canal and there is a pretty garden area to the rear where you can relax and enjoy the countryside views.
Inside, a large open fireplace with log fire provides a warm cosy atmosphere, and you can enjoy a variety of homemade snacks and sandwiches, whilst relaxing on the comfy leather sofas. To the rear there is a modern, stylish, restaurant with lovely views over the canal and garden.
Boats pass by regularly and there are overnight moorings for up to six canal boats with free WiFi access.
Special Occasions and Private Hire
The Gate Inn is the perfect venue for relaxing with family, friends or colleagues. Our function room benefits from views over the Chesterfield Canal, and can be adapted to suit a variety of occasions including private dining, business or group meetings, weddings and family celebrations. Alternatively, smaller groups may wish to use the conservatory, with views over the garden.
We can cater for morning coffee, lunch, afternoon tea, a simple finger buffet or a lavish dinner. The room hire is free of charge and we can tailor a menu to suit your budget.
